"Sunchokes" Original Watercolor Painting
Title: Sunchokes
Year: Nov. 2024
Watercolor on Paper
Size: 2 8×10 inch paintings, both framed to 11×14
Sunchokes can reach 10-12 feet high, so we wanted to show that height by creating two illustrations to open length-wise in the book. This piece comes with 2 separate paintings: the flowers, and the roots. I used various masking techniques as well as plastic wrap and splatter to paint the roots. I had so much fun painting the roots- it’s fun to create the chaos of roots coming out of the dirt.
This original watercolor painting is featured in the book, “Just One Comfrey”, a Counting book by Wisconsin Food Forests. The book is scheduled to be released July, 2025.It features edible plants that grow well in Wisconsin’s climate. Some are edible for human consumption, while others are edible only for critters and birds that call Wisconsin home.
This original watercolor painting was painting using Daniel Smith watercolors on Arches cold-pressed paper. Using professional supplies means your painting will stay brilliant and colorful for years. It also comessigned, with a Certificate of Authenticity. It is matted and framed.(gray frames with white mats, glass, with hanging wire for easy hanging).
***Framed pieces will only be available for local pickup. If you need this painting mailed to you, it will come un-framed, but still custom matted. ***
