Watercolor Travel Journal Workshop

Wednesday evenings: 6-8 pm
May 1- May 22 (4 weeks)

at Monroe Street Arts Center, Madison, WI
$230 (Arches watercolor travel journal, travel palette with 12 colors, and water container free with your registration fee)

In this 4 week workshop, you will explore how to keep a watercolor travel journal.  We will practice painting different sceneries that you might encounter on your spring or summer vacations including: ocean scenes, mountain scenes, and city scenes.  As an added bonus, you will get to take home an Arches Watercolor Paper Travel Journal (Cold-Pressed), a travel tin filled with 12 of Emily's favorite Daniel Smith watercolors, and a travel water cup- all included in your registration fee.  

You will receive this set of travel watercolor paints, water cup, and travel journal. Emily will fill your watercolor tin with 12 of her favorite Daniel Smith colors so you will be ready to paint during your summer vacation.

In this class, you will learn how to paint four different types of butterflies found in the state of Wisconsin: a Monarch, a Giant Swallowtail, an Orange Sulphur, and a Red-Spotted Purple. During our 2 hour class, I will guide you step-by-step in painting this 5x7 inch painting. This class is perfect for beginners as your design is printed directly on your watercolor paper and all supplies are included. Learn to paint with professional, quality supplies!

It’s time to mix things up! In this 4 week class, you’ll learn the basics of linocut block printing and combine it with watercolor painting. First, we’ll sketch and cut a landscape scene on a linoleum block. Then, we’ll paint abstract watercolor backgrounds to print on top of. All your supplies are included. Class for beginners and up. Breast Cancer Research Foundation: WI Butterflies

Learn how to paint using watercolors all while donating to a great cause!

In this class, 100% of your class fees go directly to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) The Breast Cancer Research Foundation is an independent, not-for-profit organization which has raises money to support clinical and translational research on breast cancer at medical institutions in the United States and abroad. BCRF currently funds over 255 researchers in 14 countries.

Last December, my mom passed away from metastatic breast cancer. BCRF helps to fund research to find new and better treatment options for metastatic breast cancer. My mom started painting with me after she was diagnosed and enjoyed how calming it was.

Class Details:

  • Sunday, October 22 from 6-7:30 pm

  • Location: Kendra Scott at Hilldale Mall, Madison, WI

  • Age: 10+ with an adult attending the class as well. Children will need fine motor skills to use a small brush

  • Donation based: You choose your level of donation per ticket. Tickets start at $20 and go up to $50 per ticket. 100% of what you pay for the class will be donated to Breast Cancer Research Foundation

  • Project: Wisconsin Butterflies (5x7 inch) Butterflies are symbols of hope and transformation and are often seen as visits from your deceased loved ones.

Stained Glass Watercolors: 4 Week Watercolor Workshop

In this 4 week workshop, you will learn the basics of watercolor painting while creating beautiful stained glass-like paintings.

Your first project will be printed on watercolor paper so that you can practice the different watercolor techniques without worrying about drawing. Over the last 2 weeks of class, I will teach you how to turn your own picture into a stained glass watercolor painting. You will then paint your stained glass piece using the techniques we learned from the first project.

Celebrate the beauty of peonies by painting your own!  In this watercolor class, you will learn how to paint peonies using watercolors. Using some reference photos of peonies growing at Olbrich Gardens, you can choose your own peony colors!  This class is perfect for beginners since your peony design will be printed directly on your watercolor paper.  You will paint an 8x10 piece that you will be able to mat at the end of class.
