"Nasturtium" Original Watercolor Painting

Nasturtiums are another edible plant that I had never heard of before illustrating “Just One Comfrey”. It has beautiful deep orange blossoms and the circular leaves have long stems that reach up towards the sunlight. I used two different layers of masking fluid to paint this plant- each time negatively painting around the leaves to help them pop out of the background. I added splatter to give the painting some motion and energy.
This original watercolor painting is featured in the book, “Just One Comfrey”, a Counting book by Wisconsin Food Forests. The book is scheduled to be released July, 2025. It features edible plants that grow well in Wisconsin’s climate. Some are edible for human consumption, while others are edible only for critters and birds that call Wisconsin home.
This original watercolor painting was painting using Daniel Smith watercolors on Arches cold-pressed paper. Using professional supplies means your painting will stay brilliant and colorful for years. It also comes signed, with a Certificate of Authenticity. It is matted and framed. (gray frame with white double mat, glass, with hanging wire for easy hanging).
