"Borage" Original Watercolor Painting
Title: Borage
Year: 2024
Watercolor and guache on Paper
Size: 8×10.5 inches, framed to 11×14
To be honest, I had never heard of Borage before illustrating “Just One Comfrey”. And although it’s a beautiful plant, it is challenging to paint with watercolors! Mainly because of all of it’s tiny, protective hairs. To paint the illusion of hairs, I used an acrylic white after painting the flowers. Borage is a great plant to attract pollinators and so I also painted a Carder Bee.
This original watercolor painting is featured in the book, “Just One Comfrey”, a Counting book by Wisconsin Food Forests. The book is scheduled to be released July, 2025.It features edible plants that grow well in Wisconsin’s climate. Some are edible for human consumption, while others are edible only for critters and birds that call Wisconsin home.
This original watercolor painting was painting using Daniel Smith watercolors on Arches cold-pressed paper. Using professional supplies means your painting will stay brilliant and colorful for years. It also comessigned, with a Certificate of Authenticity. It is matted and framed.(gray/blue frame, glass, with hanging wire for easy hanging). It is custom matted with a baby blue mat.
***Framed pieces will only be available for local pickup. If you need this painting mailed to you, it will come un-framed, but still custom matted. ***
