"Chives" Original Watercolor Painting

Chives are well known in a culinary sense, but their flowers are also so intricate and beautiful. To paint these chives, I masked the flowers and stems and them painted a bokeh effect in the background to resemble a sun soaked day. After removing the masking fluid I painted each flower petal individually to make sure that the details of the flowers stayed crisp and vibrant. The result is a dreamy scene where you can almost feel the sun and smell the chives.
This original watercolor painting is featured in the book, “Just One Comfrey”, a Counting book by Wisconsin Food Forests. The book is scheduled to be released July, 2025. It features edible plants that grow well in Wisconsin’s climate. Some are edible for human consumption, while others are edible only for critters and birds that call Wisconsin home.
This original watercolor painting was painting using Daniel Smith watercolors on Arches cold-pressed paper. Using professional supplies means your painting will stay brilliant and colorful for years. It also comes signed, with a Certificate of Authenticity. It is matted and framed. (gray frame with white double mat, glass, with hanging wire for easy hanging).
